1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using NxtSem Cornell (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

NxtSem Cornell is a course planning tool for Cornell University students. It helps you browse courses, plan schedules, track degree progress, and read/write course reviews. The Service is provided “as is” and is not affiliated with Cornell University.

3. Eligibility

You must have a valid @cornell.edu email address to create an account. By creating an account, you represent that you are a current or incoming Cornell University student, faculty, or staff member.

4. User Accounts

  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You must not share your account or create multiple accounts.

5. User Content (Reviews)

  • You retain ownership of reviews you submit.
  • By submitting a review, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display it on the Service.
  • Reviews must be honest, relevant, and based on your actual experience.
  • You must not submit reviews that are defamatory, harassing, discriminatory, or contain personal attacks against instructors or students.
  • We reserve the right to remove reviews that violate these guidelines without notice.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service.
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to access the Service beyond normal usage.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation.

7. Accuracy of Information

Course data is sourced from Cornell’s public course catalog API and may not always be up to date. Degree requirement information is provided as a planning aid and may not reflect the most current requirements. Always verify with your academic advisor and the official Cornell course roster before enrolling.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any course data, degree requirements, or user-submitted reviews.

9. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall NxtSem Cornell or its creators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to incorrect course planning, missed enrollment deadlines, or reliance on user reviews.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
